Changes to my Study programme
I find it interesting to talk and reflect on this topic of the curriculum. I am a third year student of Social Work and what strikes me the most about the first years of study is that we see many different subjects, for example, history, philosophy , sociology, anthropology, psychology, etc. And although I like this variety, I have always wondered if the other careers in the social sciences have a subject called "Social Work”. Also due to this variety of branches in the first 2 years of the degree they do not teach us much about Social Work, so it happens sometimes that it is only in the third year that you realize that you do not like social work and another thing that I find interesting to mention is that we read theories mostly from the West and not from Latin America, being that it is our reality, in addition 95% of the time we have to read male writers, being that currently there are many women recognized worldwide.
Regarding co-curricular activities, I feel that there is not much variety and that the number of places are very few, for example, to join a sports CFG you have to apply very quickly or you will quickly run out of space. Regarding the infrastructure, I really like the Juan Gomez Milla campus because I see it very varied and interesting, no place is the same as the other, but if I find that the FACSO rooms are very small, sometimes we could not all fit jajaja
I really like my college career but I do find sometimes that the academic load is very large, especially in the context of a pandemic and I think it is good that it lasts 5 years, although in some countries university last less semesters.
wow, it's surprising that you have in third-year topics about your career and you didn't have them before. I study psychology and I have never had a course on social work :/
